I first learned about the band, Abandoned Pools, about 18 years ago (Wow! That makes me feel old!) when they opened for Lenny Kravitz and P!NK at Blossom Music Center in Cleveland. My mom and I scored tickets from my aunt who wasn’t able to attend after the show got rescheduled. I loved their set and even chased a couple of the band members up a hill to get their autographs afterwards. The album they were promoting for that tour was called Humanistic and one of my top picks from that release is called Fluorescein.

Abandoned Pools released a couple more albums after Humanistic, before disbanding, but this one will always be my #1. Tommy Walter, the man behind Abandoned Pools (and also a member of the Eels), went on to become an award-winning composer and songwriter for television and film.
